The car that we're running for the 2012 season is a lovely green 1993 Volkswagen Corrado SLC. The Corrado was the predecessor of the Scirocco, and was built by Karmann for VW. Wiki it if you're really curious, there's a bunch of information there. So anyways, Tommy and I drove all around the midwest looking at Corrados and after seeing a ton of bunk ones, we stumbled upon this gem in Neenah, WI. Single owner, dealer maintained, not a bit of rust anywhere on it and about 100,000 on the odometer. Mechanically it was damn near perfect and the owner knew it; haggling proved to be difficult even for a high stakes negotiator like myself. A price was agreed upon and the Corrado was truly opened up on the way home, perhaps for the first time. Even as a totally stock car I remember being totally blown away by how incredible it handled and begged to be thrown into turns. For 2012 we are running in the "Street Prepared" class, which allows for quite a bit of modification but essentially leaves a car looking fairly stock. Following is a list of mods that we have performed to the car to prep it for this race season:
